Accreditation Specialist

SUMMARY

The Accreditation Specialist will direct, implement, and coordinate activities of the health program, in a manner leading to a successful accreditation survey with the Accreditation Association or Ambulatory Health Care (AAAHC). This position will serve as a liaison with AAAHC.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree required in a health care or related fields that support the health care business or equivalent experience. *
  • Experience in any health-related field required.
  • Must have knowledge of accreditation standards and other applicable standards, and related aspects of quality assurance and community-based health services and other supportive services, with tribal organizations.
  • Must have a valid and unrestricted driver's license and be insurable by GTB insurance carrier

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintain patient confidentiality as per Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) of 1996 and complete HIPAA compliance training.
  • Translate AAAHC standards, requirements, and policies into terms or processes.
  • Provide overall direction necessary to ensure that services are provided in accordance with standards established through state, federal, and AAAHC accreditation standards.
  • Provided administrative direction and support through collaboration with leadership and staff for activities related to accreditation, regulatory affairs, patient safety, and performance improvement.
  • Serve as an expert resource on accreditation and regulatory issues to management, staff and physicians.
  • Serve as an organizational liaison with AAAHC.
  • Develop, implement, and analyze policies and procedures for internal consistency and optimal compliance with AAAHC accreditation requirements.
  • Coordinate and perform activities relative to an accreditation survey, including obtaining, maintaining, and completing appropriate documentation.
  • Maintains, obtains, and completes documentation relative to compliance with AAAHC accreditation standards.
  • Ensure availability of current references of standards and communicates all necessary information to the appropriate departments, communicates action recommendations, requirements, and changes to standards in a timely manner to leadership.
  • Provides consultation and leadership to relevant work groups, teams and committees to ensure compliance with AAAHC standards.
  • Develops mock surveys and self-assessment tools in collaboration with management, formulates responses to findings and inquiries.
  • Researches and analyzes AAAHC and other agency requirements and issues and educates staff accordingly.
  • Facilitates, directs, coordinates, and implements Quality Improvement activities and improvement processes.
  • Analyzes reports, data, evaluations, self-assessments, investigations, and develops summaries, recommendations, and action plans.
  • Other duties as assigned.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Must have outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
  • Good time management and organizational skills are critical.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with demonstrated as the Seven Grandfather teachings. Exceptional detail and follow-up skills.
  • Work requires proficiency in computer literacy, preferably in Adobe Pro, Microsoft Windows, Word, Excel, and other Microsoft office products and database applications.
  • Ability to quickly evaluate alternatives and decide on a plan of action.
  • Ability to effectively establish priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Must have overview and in-dept knowledge of all GTB health programs.
  • Must gain a working knowledge of RPMS.
  • Must be able to recognize technical problems or deviations from normal procedure and confers with immediate supervisor to resolve them after searching precedents to develop a recommended solution.
  • Uses good judgment in interpreting guidelines, in adapting department procedures, or in recommending approaches or solutions for specific problems.
  • Basic knowledge of business and accounting systems and methods.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's degree required in a health care or related fields that support the health care business or equivalent experience. *
  • Must have knowledge of accreditation standards and other applicable standards, and related aspects of quality assurance and community-based health services and other supportive services, with tribal organizations.
  • Must have a valid and unrestricted driver's license and be insurable by GTB insurance carrier

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must be knowledgeable of accreditation standards such as Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care (AAAHC) and other national standards, , and related aspects of quality assurance.
  • Must be able to demonstrate professional, executive level communication skills, including oral and written skills.
  • Must be knowledgeable of community-based health services and related services, including infrastructures and other supportive services, with tribal organizations.
  • Must be sensitive to cultural-specific health perspectives of Native Americans.
  • Must have a valid and unrestricted driver's license and be insurable by the GTB insurance carrier.

EQUIPMENT TO BE USED

General office equipment, calculators, computers, modem, copiers, fax, phone systems, etc.

TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Work requires sitting, lifting, reaching, walking, and lifting heavy objects, such as a case of paper or several books at once. Also requires manual dexterity to operate office equipment, keyboarding, copiers, etc.

TYPICAL MENTAL DEMANDS

The employee uses judgment in identifying and selecting the most appropriate procedures to use, or in determining which of several established alternatives to use. Some deadlines are involved, so there is time pressure on occasion.

WORKING CONDITIONS

A great deal of work is performed in a clinic office environment but is important to realize that some of the work is on the floor and in the other office of the Health Clinic and Behavior Health, and that you are expected to go on-site on a regular basis.

COMMENTS

Native American Preference will apply. Must be willing and able to pass a background investigation and a drug and alcohol urinalysis as a condition of employment. Adherence to strict company policy regarding confidentiality is a must.
